You know I feel ya with my 2 decades of fibromyalgia. You need to take care of YOU first, or you can’t do anything for others.

I love the illustration of how on flights they tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first because you’re no good to anybody passed out and stuck between the seat and the floor. (Yes, I may have embellished a bit…)

But it’s true. So you first, Lisa. You’re worth taking care of. ❤️

Yes. Definitely. I blame bootcamp. They have to teach you you are capable of more than you think because of the extraordinary requirements of combat. But it creates a definite “you can power through” attitude for much of the rest of your life. 🤪🤣

What? You were in the military? I can’t imagine surviving boot camp!

Yeah, that “powering through it” is definitely NOT your best friend when there are other health considerations.

You should never apologize for not being able to show up— I appreciate your videos.

Your thoughts. Keep going.

We are showing up. You just can’t see us anymore because you attack the very institutions which hold the spoons. Stop making this a he said she said and use a bit more wisdom in your personal attacks.

I didn’t say who isn’t showing up? I am grateful for every person that does. I am sorry if anything seemed to be an attack. I was apologizing for not doing more, not accusing others of not doing more. I worry that people will get tired of- this is a years long battle we have ahead of us - but I believe everyone who has the chance shows up, and make the chance for others to join in next time. 😕

I’m sorry if you felt attacked.

Lisa, Andra Watkins just did episode with Lincoln Square the other day. She's a survivor of white Christian nationalism. On substack. Maybe contact her.

I was in a church that was preaching a lot of Rushdoony’s stuff (actually two). I planned this more as just an overview for people to realize that a lot of homeschooled kids who are now adults were indoctrinated with this stuff as pretty much an imperitave: “take the US for Jesus, enact Old Testament Law for the country to be blessed.”

You are encouraging to listen to and share how we can just do what we can. Not more than we have strength for. I’m having Physical therapy since I had my left knee replaced on April 30. Today my legs are sore and painful. I’m doing what I can and taking breaks! As you said, we can’t perform as well as we did 10 or 15 years ago!!

Good afternoon Lisa. I can totally relate to you and not having enough energy!! I used to have it.

Yesterday my husband and I went to the rally Good Trouble in Southbury CT. I got a lot of photos and put them

Up on Facebook. We ate out for dinner since we were out most of the day. I came home and napped 2 1/2 hours til 8:40 and then watched Lev Parnas where her spoke with others at a meeting at the library. It was wonderful to hear what their plans are in Florida.

That's all we can do, right? What our bodies will allow is the limit at times.

Hopefully not the mind, we can do so much and every bit counts.

Yeah. I think the idea of losing my mind scares me most.

I need to find the spoons to finish mowing my lawn. I started throwing up in the middle of it and have never finished yet.

Yeah - anger will motivate even those of us with health challenges. It’s exhausting, but worth every single second we speak out.

Sometimes I am not sure if it is anger or fear. I see this country headed down a very dark path at the moment. I definitely don’t want to be considered complicit with their behavior.

I think it’s both. I don’t think holding on to the “enemy of my enemy is my friend” schtick can last long. We all become that enemy, which, is never true. We are in the same families, communities, faith groups, etc. I think humanizing the situation is the best way to combat this. We are all human. We are all flawed. We are friends, not enemies. Disagreements on specific policies should reveal the humanity of each member, not dismiss it. Keep on keeping on because what they are pretending not to know is the truth. ❤️

In the end, what should be criticized are policies that are harmful, and attitudes that creates them. The reporter who saw me confronted at the protest was impressed with the exchange, but originally I was confused by that. I wasn’t trying to win an argument - just explain myself. I didn’t know if they would understand or escalate, but I wanted them to understand that what I was doing was a valid expression for the moment.

Lisa,

Please don't ever apologize! You're a warrior! I too am someone living with chronic illnesses and use the spoon theory to help healthy people understand. I had to retire after a 30 yr career as a nurse due to health decline.

I've spent several hours a day for several weeks trying to help save democracy as you do. You said your lab work is off. Mine too! Our bodies tell us to take a break but we don't listen. We know the consequences to this will lead some of us unable to function. So, my spoonie warrior friend, take a break! Let's make a pact to help each other & others like us to remember self care. Supportive community is important, especially now.

Love & hugs 💖 🫂 🥄

Thank you my friend! I just had hoped to fit the live in to this week but am tired and “off” enough that I won’t be at my best. I managed to mostly meet the goals of yesterday, even though I left a half hour before the end for one, and ended up fifteen minutes late for the other (took that long for anti nausea meds to kick in).

I got started networking with the local Democratic Party members and was one more body in a small protest in rural Missouri. ❤️
